Craig Victim of Homophobia

Please don't confuse this post with condoning Craig in anyway. I think he is a sad, pathetic man and I don't condone "cottaging" in
any way.

That said, I am shocked at the GOP giving a 30+ veteran of Congress
the bum's rush for a misdemeanor. Sure, he handled it pathetically.
Certainly, he would probably lose if he ran for re-election. He
probably should go get counseling to deal with his sexuality.

However, contrast his treatment with that of Sen. Vitter (LA), who
was outed as one of the DC Madam's johns. He is secure in his seat,
preparing for re-election next year with the full support of the
party. Legally, I believe soliciting a prostitute is a weightier
crime than public disorder. Morally, it is at least as bad as
Craig's behavior, and yet the GOP is backing him fully.

This just stinks of homophobia from the GOP. If Craig were guilty of
sexually harrassing a woman, which is a non-consensual act and
therefore much more damaging to others, I don't think he would be on
his way out.

The double standard reeks more than anything coming out of a public
restroom.
